Called 2 Create began humbly as a simple idea in a living room, late 2017 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Three ambitious individuals, Corey, Corey’s wife Lashae, and Lashae’s mother, Tammy, decided to help spread the word of God through fashion. This company, which has already begun to make an impact in their community, has its origins not only in a love of God but also in a love of family.

Corey and Lashae’s love story truly began when they started working together at a unisex salon where Corey worked as a barber, and Lashae as a hair stylist. Corey and Lashae’s relationship began platonically, with casual conversations around the salon. They learned to enjoy each other’s interactions, and perspectives. It wasn’t until Lashae left an anonymous note for Corey on his car that something more than a friendship was initiated. To her surprise, her anonymity fell short because Corey knew exactly who left the note, and he responded with a simple text, “Oh really?…”

The bond grew stronger every day, with both reminiscing over Corey’s attempts to sell Lashae sunglasses, and throwing in his mixtape, when she was a client at a previous shop he worked at. They also connected through the fact that both had grown up just a block apart from each other in Illinois, and didn’t know it at the time. Also, the producer that Corey would come to Atlanta to link up with frequently, he later found out, that producer was Lashae’s brother’s dad! These little connections helped paint the picture that God destined their relationship to happen. Following God’s plan, Corey surprised Lashae by asking for her hand in marriage on Valentine’s Day, and, of course, she cried, and accepted.

Despite life’s extreme challenges, they always had dreams to spread the word of God, with the idea for growing out of a children’s clothing line into something for the entire family. Growing up, they both remember often hearing sayings from their mother, which inspired . Combining Lashae’s skills and background in fashion merchandising and Corey’s background in sales and customer outreach, collectively, they have worked to build this company into a brand capable of inspiring others to follow this family towards the word of God, and to do what they are called to create!
